Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What should I expect from therapy?

After the phone consultation, we’ll schedule a day and time for us to have our weekly therapy sessions.

Prior to our first session, I’ll send you some paperwork to fill out.

During our first session, we’ll review that paperwork together and discuss your goals for therapy.

Each session thereafter, you’ll be…

  • provided with a space to process your thoughts and emotions

  • learning more about the state of your mental well-being from a psychological standpoint

  • provided with feedback

  • learning coping skills

  • collaboratively exploring solutions to your problems

  • receiving encouragement, support, and validation

How long is therapy?

This all depends on each individual’s therapeutic goals and is determined on a case by case basis by both the client and therapist.

For the first 3 months of therapy, it is highly recommended to attend therapy at least once a week for 45 to 60 minutes. Some people choose to take a more intensive approach to therapy by attending twice a week for a total of 120 minutes while others may attend once a week for a total of 80 minutes.

As for how many months therapy will last, the choice is yours. Research has shown that engaging in cognitive behavioral therapy for 3-4 months should be enough to see some improvements. But again, this isn’t the case for everyone. Some people start to see some improvements in their day to day lives after just a week or two while others take much longer than the 3-4 months to see any significant changes take place in their lives.

Now just because you experience “some” improvements doesn’t mean you’ve gotten all there is to get out of therapy. You’ve more than likely been experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, irritability, burnout and so much more throughout a great portion of your entire life.

So if you need support for longer than 3-4 months, don’t worry, I’m here to embark on this healing journey with you for as long as you need.

What about confidentiality?

Everything we talk about in therapy is strictly confidential. That means that what we discuss stays between me and you. I will NEVER share any of your personal, private information with anyone. And I mean ANYONE.

***However, there are some limitations to confidentiality. It is important to note that I cannot keep mention of suicidal intentions, homicidal intentions, or anything regarding child abuse confidential.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes! I accept Optum, Oxford, Oscar, United Healthcare, UMR, Cigna, and Aetna.

How much will each therapy session cost?

If you do not have any of the aforementioned health insurances, the fee for each 45 minute individual therapy session is $150.
